Couldn't put this book (Shifting Fates) down once started reading and immediately read the next in the series (Shifting Fates:Uncaged). I normally read only paranormal romance and mystery books, so this is a new genre for me. I was worried about how dark the story would be located in post-nuclear Manhattan...but the writers have written just enough to understand what happened, and also make you root for all the characters. I love the shifter children, especially KIT. I was so engrossed in these stories that I didn't want them to be over!! So many possible outcomes to the stories, who is good or bad? Is the military there to protect...or is something else going on? That to me is a great book. One that makes you think and wonder, what if this happened. What would you do?! If you are looking for a short book that concludes, then don't buy this...as I believe the writers will write multiple books to finish this series. Definitely will look to other books written by Aubrey Rose and Nadia Simonenko.Tags : Shifting Fates (Urban Fantasy Shifter Romance Book One) - Kindle edition by Aubrey Rose, Nadia Simonenko. Shifting Fates Urban Fantasy Shifter Romance Book One edition by Aubrey Rose Nadia Simonenko Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
Action, adventure and love in a brave new world…a post apocalyptic world where shifters must fight for their lives among what remains of mankind and the hatred between the two races.
Cage has his own tragic reasons for hating shifters, so joined the army to fight as his own bid for revenge. Only there is one shifter named Bindi who might make him re-think everything that drives him in this dark new world.
Danger and tragedy mixed with romance in a nuclear cataclysm aftermath makes for a truly captivating story. Better still, the authors handle the subject matter with great skill resulting in the debut of what promises to be an excellent series.
Excited I am, for the next book is already waiting for me and I can hardly wait. Recommended!
I loved this one! It kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first page. The urban setting is amazing; ghetto Manhattan, WOW! Because it's written in monthly installments the cliffhanger ending shouldn't have surprised me but still did. I fell in love with Bindi right away. She's trying so hard to do the right thing and hang on to part of her humanity while suppressing her own desires. Cage is a really complicated character as well; he's put himself into a pretty impossible situation and I can't wait to see where the next book takes them! I'm glad to hear that the heat level is going to be turned up a bit in future books as well because the potential sexual for chemistry between these two is awesome! This is a well written new series that's going to the top of my Must Read list!
A copy of Shifting Fates was provided by that author in exchange for an honest review.
I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. Cage is in the military trying to keep humans safe from the shifters. After nuclear fallout and radioactive fallout in New York City, things are not what they seem. Bindi is a shifter trying to save the few children she has found from death. If they are caught by the soldiers, they will be killed. When Bindi runs into Cage, they both feel the electricity and are not sure what is happening. They meet again when Nim, one of her family, kills a soldier and Cage is there. He tries to kill Nim but Bindi stops him. Cage tries to save her and move her to another location but she refuses to go. There is going to be good stuff happening between Cage and Bindi in this series, I can feel it. Another great beginning to another series from Aubrey Rose and Nadia Simonenko and I loved it. If you like stories about shifters and love then this one is for you. It is about 70 pages and work the time to read and enjoy it.
This one starts off with a bang. The post-apocalyptic world the authors have created is vivid and believable. Bindi's family is adorable and when they were in danger, my heart was in my throat. This is a post nuclear story and because of the fallout shifters have evolved, and humans are terrified, but falling through the cracks are shifter children, Bindi has gathered together the ones she has found and made a family, an odd family to be sure but bound together not by the fear of what they have become but by love. Cage has hated shifters since his brother was killed by the shifters, it is his reason for joining the army and being where he is so he can find revenge, what he didn't expect to find was Bindi. Once he had run into her he couldn't get her off his mind but humans look at shifters and see monsters with no shred of humanity left, they cannot seem to get past their fear to understanding and until they do the lives of every shifter are in danger, even the children. This story started out with a bang and ended on a cliff hanger...diving right into book 2 immediately.
First off I want to say I love the works of Aubrey Rose and Nadia Simonenko, they are both fantastic storytellers.
In "Shifting Fates" we meet Bindi, a half-wolf/half-human shifter living in Manhattan after a nuclear war. We also meet Cage, a human military man who is sent to exterminate all shifters. His need to kill any and all shifters that happen his way is amplified by the fact that his brother was murdered by shifters. He never dreamed that he'd like a shifter let alone want to be with one, until he meets Binbi.
There are a few things I really loved about this story. The set-up and world that was developed was done extremely well. The authors gave us a really great feel for the atmosphere. The characters were also both written extraordinarily well. Bimbi is the kind of heroine that you can look up to, she strong and determined. Cage on the other hand is a true alpha male; whether the story be written in present day or futuristic, I'm a sucker for a military man. There's a fair amount of development with both characters, especially considering the length of the story. Overall, another win for these two authors.
